Timber Frame Woodshed – Part 1 of 3 – Post and Beam

Three part series on How to build a Timber Frame Style Woodshed. I wanted the shed to be designed and built in a timber frame style with some simple joinery, post and beam. We heat our house with wood and need a drying and storage shed as close to the wood stove as possible. Basic carpentry skills are all you need. Woodshed Plans available for download. Woodshed designs are plentiful and there’s lots of options. Have a look at the timber frame woodshed ideas I came up with.

  1. We had a perfect spot beside the house for a woodshed and I was looking to build something unique. Having the shed as close to the wood stove as possible would make the winter task of hauling in wood a bit easier. I'm really happy with the results. 2. I like your simplifies timber frame design. I am planning to discuss using your techniques and design ideas with my wife for our new shooting range shelter.

  3. Awesome job. Love your style. I use a long flat bar with two hands to break out and drag scrape the notches. Saves some chiseling. I haven’t tried a draw knife but I think that would be pretty nice to clean up.

  4. Awe I see your a great craftsman & for those 4 yoyo's who gave u a thumbs down I give them the snub up nose and a smile at them with shame. you did awesome brother from one craftsman to another i tip my hat and pat you on the back and a shout out for a job well done partner.

  5. I'm so glad I found your videos.  I subscribed right away.  Is there any chance that you could explain the footer that surrounds the shed?  I'd love to see how you built that as well.  Thanks for sharing.

  6. Great carpentry, great camera work and editing, great content. Only negative- after showing it to my lady, she wants a woodshed as pretty as that one. Thanks!

  7. I followed you over from reddit. That's a beautiful woodshed and it looks like you have a lot of great videos to binge on. You've got my sub and 👍🏻

  8. When you're using the circular saw to form a joint, run the blade right down the edge of the end. That gives you a clean edge when you change over to chisel.
