Level the ground (if necessary) and install deck piers along a grid to support the shed. The piers will allow you to string support beams beneath the floor of the shed. In the example design, the piers are spaced 6 feet (1.8 m) apart in one direction and 4 feet (1.2 m) apart in the other for a total grid area of 12 x 8 feet.

String support beams lengthwise across the deck piers. This will support your floor joists, which run in the opposite direction. The easiest way to attach the beams to the piers is with metal straps, which have built-in nail holes. In the example design, the beams are 12-foot-long 4×6”s.

Attach joists to the support beams and separate them with blocking.
First, you will need to attach a rim joist along the outer edge of each outermost support beam; each of these will need to be the same length as the beam underneath.

Nail plywood sheeting to the joists to form the floor. If necessary, use H-clips in addition to nailing the sheets into place; these fit between two pieces of plywood and lock them together for additional structural strength. In the example design, two standard sheets of 4- by 8-foot plywood are used whole and a third is sawn in half and used to fill in the 4-foot difference on either end. Because of the spacing of the piers, support beams, and joists, no additional cuts or adjustments are necessary.
Flooring may also be screwed down with 3-inch deck screws.

Build the framework for all four walls. To account for the fact that the front and back walls are different from each other (due to the doorframe in the front) and the side walls must both be sloped (to prevent rain from collecting on the roof), each of these will have to be tackled somewhat differently.
Build the framework for the back wall. Make the top and bottom beams (a.k.a. the plates) the same length as the length of the floor which they sit.
Build the framework for the front wall. The front wall should be the same as the back wall except taller and with a door frame so that you can hang a door in the shed when you’re done.

Build the framework for the side walls. The bottom plate of each side wall should be the same length as the distance between the bottom plates of the front and back wall (so that the side walls will fit between them).
Assemble the four wall structures. Wall structures are usually nailed to the underlying support from the bottom up.

Build rafters across the roof and separate them with blocking. These should overhang the walls of your shed for increased weather protection.

Nail plywood sheeting to the rafters to form the roof. If you have added overhang, the plywood layout you used to cover the floor will have to be amended.

Cover the walls. You can use siding, textured plywood, or anything else that gives the shed a more finished look.

Add tar paper to roof. Start from lower end of roof slope and work your way upwards, making sure that each new level of paper overlaps one below it to keep rain from seeping into cracks

How to Build a Colonial Style Shed: Step by Steps Tutorial

How to Build a Colonial-Style Shed: Step by Steps Tutorial
A Colonial-style storage shed that anyone can build.
Homeowners complain about having too much storage space about as often as they do about having an overabundance of cash. It just doesn’t happen. Build this shed to help alleviate your overflowing closets.
Nearly every home, regardless of its size, has a shortage of accessible storage space. Need proof? Take a peek into the average garage and you’ll likely find it crammed full of bicycles, lumber, garden tools, trash cans, outdoor power equipment, sports gear and car-care supplies.
An occasional spring-cleaning can help you reorganize and reclaim some space, but it’s only a matter of time before the clutter returns. What you really need is more space, and one of the best ways to find it is to create it by building a backyard storage shed.
At 10 x 16 ft., this handsome garden shed is large enough for most backyard needs. We’ve added an interior partition so it serves double duty as a storage shed and an all-weather children’s playroom. Double doors on the side and gable end make it easy to access the space.
We built the Colonial-style garden shed shown here from a set of mail-order building plans. The 10 x 16-ft. outbuilding has easy-to-install plywood siding, three large windows and two pairs of doors. The entire building could be used for storage, but we decided to divide the interior space into two separate areas: a 4 x 10-ft. tool-storage area and a 10 x 12-ft. children’s playroom.
It’s hard to say exactly how much it will cost you to build this shed. Lumber prices fluctuate almost daily and vary widely from one region of the country to another, but figure on spending between 00 and 00. Before starting construction, take your plans to your local building department and apply for a building permit.

This video is about on how to build a shed floor with step by step method.

And here are my woodworking tips I gathered in the net for your reference.

Safety must be a priority when you are doing any time of outdoor shed project. Be certain to use all tools as they’re supposed to be used while you’re wearing safety equipment. Don’t take the guards off a tool – they’re intended to keep you have as they were put there for your protection. You don’t want to go to the hospital bed.

You need to do a dry fitting before you apply glue and clamping your woodworking pieces together. You can cause damage if you tinker with the fit after you’ve applied the glue. A dry fitting will give you some idea of where to put things.

Don’t forget to stay in touch with others. Your woodworking shop might be reclusive and not even have Internet. There will still be times you have a particular problem within a larger project. You will probably never have a problem that someone else has not had.

Always be cautious when using a table saw. This is preferable to simply using the fence because it will prevent any movement from your board when you are cutting. This will also ensure that the board end open so you can cut.

Make sure you have enough lighting in your working area if you want to continue constructing your outdoor shed during nighttime. Whenever you have to sand, sand or stain something, you need a lot of light. This will also help you find any areas where extra sanding.

Wet any surface of the wood before you plan on sanding. This helps raise the grain of wood. This will allow you avoid fine scratches. This will give your finished woodworking project a professional looking woodworking project when you’re finished. It could also make you some money in the future.

Drafting squares help you be more accurate when you’re making cuts that are small. It can be tricky to adequately measure wood in the range between two and three foot range. Try stopping into your friendly neighborhood art supply store to pick up a drafting square from an arts and crafts store. They are easier to work with and keep things accurate.

Always check your measurements are correct by double checking them. You may wish to triple check if the materials you are using pricy materials. Measuring is often where the most common error a woodworker makes.

Many people begin working on a woodworking them get frustrated when things don’t materialize instantly. Understand that there is a great piece inside of the wood, but you have to release it.Patience will allow you be successful at woodworking. You will soon finish your project imminently!

Watching someone else can be a good way to learn the techniques of woodworking. There are many videos available online that will allow you to learn what certain tools are used. You can watch the entire project from beginning to the end in videos that will cover your whole project.

Always follow directions carefully when you’re working on. You may be tempted to find shortcuts, but you are sure to regret that in the end. The directions were put there so that your project could come out well.

Being the best woodworker you can be will take some time and effort on your part. You have to work at it. You must educate yourself on all of the best woodworking techniques and woodworking business practices. The tips here are general in nature, but can be applied to your shed woodworking project. Good luck.
